The Moron Salt Wacky Pack sticker. It's been collected for over 35 years.
When it Rains, The Salt Doesn't Pour. For a generation, this slogan and the angry little girl who made it famous have made the Moron Salt Wacky Pack sticker a familiar sight for kids in many American homes.
Since 1967, Topps Wacky Packages stickers such as this one have been America's favorite collectible sticker. Wacky Packages parodied common household products and were extremely popular among children in the 1970's. Moron Salt, a parody of the Morton Salt product at the time, was one of the original Wacky Packages stickers produced in 1967 by Topps. It's hilarious!
05/07/03 - Wacky Packages Moron Salt Banned on eBay!
Incredibly, the humorless corporation Morton Salt is still upset about Wacky Packages after all these years. Who could believe it but they have actually forced eBay to ban auctions of a 35 year old children's trading card: Moron Salt. In March/April of 2003 the rumor started going around about this, the first we are aware of to have problems was ebayer janardana (see message). At first nobody could believe it, so a collector ran a test and sure enough the auction was ended by the eBay watch guards:

Read the entire eBay response. This is fantastic, we have to thank Morton Salt for caring so much about Wacky Packages.
What does this mean for sellers and buyers of collectibles?
Can the Morton Salt Corporation completely ban the sale of a trading card collectible made 35 years ago? Obviously they want to, but if they get away with this, other companies will follow and before we know it, all kinds of collectibles will become banned from sale by corporations. As collectors, and for the love of antiques & Americana of all kinds, we can't let this happen!!
What can we do?
